What is pltfrm.team building?

A reliability consulting service that strictly deals with a bare-metal platform deployed with specific componentry. We can be thought of as our customer's own personal platform team.

Is the product the platform?

No. The platform itself is just a set of open-source components that are a tightly-controlled, known quantity for the pltfrm.team.

Then what is the product?

Two things:

1. The reliability of the platform itself - and access to pltfrm engineer's expertise on the pltfrm
2. Reliability consulting for applications deployed on the platform

What then is the platform?

The platform is a vanilla kubernetes installation, deployed to customer's infrastructure (bare-meta) with a strictly opinionated set of components. Anyone else can deploy this opinionated set of components, and the mechanisms for managing deployment, upgrading etc if they don't already exist are built by us and made freely available to others.

Who is the platform for?

The bare-metal platform is for businesses that want to run vanilla Kubernetes, and have a platform team that maintains it's reliability.

Who is the consulting service for?

The consulting service is for businesses that want to be able to have cloud-like support for local platform deployments. To make this possible the specifics of the platform have to conform to the pltfrm.team's standards and expectations. Therefore a very narrow set of components, deployment configurations and other opinionated decisions have to be adhered to so that the reliability of the platform can be ensured for the customer by the pltfrm.team.
